How Should a Person Be? by Sheila Heti

Recommended by Andréa Tchacos.

The title says it all. Heti, an icon of the autofiction genre, asks the questions most of us would be embarrassed to about art, personhood, womanhood, and fulfilling one’s potential. The results are both unsettling and joyful. The times I cringed while reading this, I was mostly cringing at myself.
